What are some ways to speed up going through uworld?
I do a 40 question set timed. Then it takes me pretty much the entire day to review one set (6hrs) . I make ANKI cards out of wrong answers + answer choices I'm unfamiliar with (unknown drug).
I've done 500 questions now, and I've made about 300 cards, and my pace is not getting faster.
I want to get to 80-100 questions a day, but the only way I see that happening is if I skim answer explanations, and make one to two word answer cards.
Thanks for this useful question! This is something many students struggle with when first trying to make cards if they are doing them without guidance.
You should only be making 1 card per incorrect question (you can have 2-3 questions that you ask yourself on a single card, all related to a single UWorld or NBME question). You don't need to make cards based on answer choices you're unfamiliar with. Step 1 will throw you things you'll never heard of as incorrect answers, and you need to learn to be confident in what you do know. The cards only need to teach you the bare minimum facts to get a question right.
It should only take you about 3 hours to review and make cards for a block. It's okay to skim the explanations for the questions you get correct. You might want to take an NBME sooner rather than later to motivate yourself further to go faster.
